Prescott City Council Tables Adoption of General Plan

One of the items on the Prescott City Council’s voting meeting agenda was the possible adoption of the updated City of Prescott 2025 General Plan and setting of the ballot language.

Only 5 of the 7 members of council were in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting. State statute requires a two-thirds vote of the body to pass, meaning all 5 members in attendance would have to vote for adopting the general plan and setting of the ballot language for it to be placed on the ballot for voters.

After hearing lengthy public comment, Mayor Phil Goode said that he could not support the updated general plan:

Council then voted 5 to 0 to table the discussion and possible adoption of the updated general plan until the May 27th City Council meeting. If approved in May, that would also move the vote to the 2025 general election ballot rather than the primary election in August.
