They walked into Mingus High School and absolutely owned the court. The Prescott boys tennis team Tuesday notched a 9-0 win over the Marauders for their second straight match sweep. All singles matches were decided in two sets. Some of the more competitive ones were James Wood at number four singles, who won 6-1 and 7-5, and Nick Thompson at number one singles, who won 6-4 and 6-3. Thompson and Seth Walker also won their doubles match 8-3.
On the girls’ side, Prescott did not get the sweep, but they did get a convincing 7-2 triumph over Mingus. The closest match of the day was at number three doubles, which Makenzie Lanford and Mandy Hirasa won 8-6. Somer Huttmann won her number one singles match 6-4 and 6-2. Hirasa and Lanford both won their singles matches 6-3 and 6-3.
The Prescott boys are now 6-1 on the season and the girls are 5-2.
