Yavapai County at Higher Than Normal Risk for Wildfires in April

Expect more wildfires than usual for Yavapai County this month. The National Interagency Fire Center released its nationwide wildland fire map outlook for April. Yavapai County, along with much of southeastern Arizona, is listed at above normal for risk of wildfires.

Parts of New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, the Dakotas, the Carolinas, Virginia, and Alaska are also in that category.

Prescott fire and government officials urge local residents to take precautions to protect their property from a wildfire by clearing excess vegetation and yard debris from around your home to create defensible space.
