Two people are suspected of stealing gasoline in Yavapai County.
Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Paul Wick says a volunteer in protection was responding to a report of suspicious vehicles in Humboldt:
Wick says the vehicles left the area. When one was later stopped by a deputy on State Route 69, a hose and a pump were found inside. The other vehicle had 55-gallon drums in the back. The deputies discovered thousands of gallons of stolen gas between the two vehicles.
The two men, ages 36 and 42, were arrested for felony theft and criminal damage. They are suspected of stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of gasoline from several different gas stations in Yavapai County and elsewhere dating back to 2019.
