After dropping four of their previous five games, the Chino Valley baseball team looked to turn around their fortunes. They did just that in the biggest way possible. The Cougars were at Winslow Wednesday and got out to an 8-0 lead after the first two innings. They didn’t let up the rest of the way and routed the Bulldogs 16-2 in five innings.
Chino was helped out by six Winslow errors.
Jacob Boivin had three RBIs and three runs scored. Ryan LaMotte went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs, and three stolen bases. Logan Zerger drove in two runs. Caden Todd, Cutter McCoy, and Freddie Garcia each had an RBI and two runs scored. Garcia also was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts.
Chino Valley is now 6-7-1 overall on the season and 2-4 in 3A West Region play. The Cougars are back home tomorrow to take on Blue Ridge.
