PHS Girls Tennis Edged Out by Flagstaff

The Prescott girls tennis team hoped to gain some ground in the Division Two power point rankings. The Lady Badgers entered Thursday with the number 12 ranking. Opposing them was number nine ranked Flagstaff. Along with battling each other, both teams had to battle the windy weather that swept through Prescott.

Somer Huttman got the job done for Prescott at number one singles, winning her match 6-1, 6-2. The Lady Eagles, however, took four singles matches, with freshman Mandy Hirasa winning at number five singles for Prescott 6-2, 6-4.

Onto doubles, and Huttman and Ciara Coleman got the 8-6 win, while Hirasa and Makenzie Lanford were victorious in their match 8-3. It then came down to number two doubles for all the marbles. Juliette Gundermann and Alder Aten put up a heck of a fight, but came up short in the end 9-7. That gave Flagstaff the 5-4 team win.

Prescott is back in action Tuesday at Goldwater.
