A dramatic collision between a truck and train in Yavapai County ended without injury, but led to a DUI arrest.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies say it happened around 8 p.m. Saturday on Date Creek Road near Congress. They found that 44-year-old Clinton Harry of Hillside had driven his pickup about 150 yards down the train tracks—and got stuck.
Unable to drive off in time, Harry abandoned the truck and fled on foot before the oncoming train struck his vehicle. The train stopped just past the impact site.
Deputies arrested Harry for driving under the influence. His blood alcohol level tested at more than three times the legal limit. Additional charges could follow, depending on the damage to the train.
BNSF halted rail traffic through the area as crews inspected the tracks and the train for safety.
