A woman driving over 100 miles per hour on State Route 69 was arrested Sunday night in Yavapai County. Deputies say 46-year-old Denise McCloe sped past a sheriff’s unit near Mayer around 7:40 p.m. — minutes after another driver reported her for dangerous driving.
The vehicle was stopped in Spring Valley, where McCloe told the deputy she’d been drugged. She showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody for DUI. A search of her car uncovered two grams of meth and an unknown powder. One deputy was accidentally exposed to the drug and taken to the hospital. He has since been released.
More meth was found on McCloe during booking. She faces multiple charges including criminal speed, DUI, drug possession, and promoting prison contraband.
The Yavapai County deputy is recovering at home.
