PNF Wildfire Danger Now Moderate

The chance of a major wildfire in the tri-city area has gone down. Thanks to last week’s rain, the fire danger in Prescott National Forest is moderate.

Even with the lower fire danger, Forest Service officials urge everyone to take precautions when out camping or hiking. Make sure your campfire is completely out and ashes are cool to the touch before you leave. If you smoke, make sure to properly discard your cigarettes. Do not throw them into grass or brush.

When driving, check that no chains are dragging from your vehicle, as they can throw out sparks. Also, do not park on grass, as the heat from under your vehicle can ignite the vegetation.
