Firefighters quickly contained a small wildfire that ignited Tuesday afternoon in the Groom Creek area, just south of Prescott. The vegetation fire was first reported around 4 p.m. and was estimated at just 0.25 acres.
Captain Max Fitzmaurice from Groom Creek Fire District tells The News:
The incident was officially deactivated from the Watch Duty map by 10:25 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Prescott and surrounding forested areas remain under heightened fire watch as summer approaches.
