Prescott area Congressman Eli Crane is hoping to make the process of cleaning up mines in rural Arizona easier. He recently introduced the Legacy Mine Clean Up Act, designed to strengthen coordination between federal, state, and tribal authorities.
Crane’s bill would encourage the EPA to prioritize responsible mine cleanup in Arizona over green initiatives; ensure proper congressional oversight of its progress; and bolster the Office of Mines, Deserts, and Plains’s outreach to ensure local and tribal authorities have a seat at the table for cleanup projects that impact their health and environment.
