Prescott police are alerting the public to be aware of a ticket scam. They report several people have received texts claiming they owe money on outstanding tickets and must pay immediately, or they could lose their license or be arrested. Some of the texts claim to be from the Arizona Department of Transportation, while others are from the “Arizona Ministry of Communications.”
If you receive such a text, do not click on any links or send any money—just delete it. Prescott police officials say no law enforcement agency will demand payment of tickets via text.
