The Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center will hold a special ceremony on Monday, June 30th at 1 p.m. to mark two important milestones.
The event will commemorate the 12th anniversary of the Yarnell Hill Fire, which claimed the lives of 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, and also celebrate the 7th anniversary of the center’s opening.
The ceremony will begin with a bell ringing by the Prescott Fire Department Honor Guard, and a musical tribute from the Central Arizona Pipe and Drum Corps.
Speakers will include Center Board Chair John Marsh, Prescott Fire Chief Holger Durre, and other local dignitaries.
The Tribute Center preserves the memory of the fallen firefighters and educates the public about wildland fire. It also houses items recovered from the Station 7 memorial fence that appeared after the tragedy.
The center is located at Pineridge Marketplace, 3250 Gateway Boulevard in Prescott, near Dillard’s.
