PV Saves Millions of Gallons with New Discharge Method

The Town of Prescott Valley has successfully wrapped up its new water distribution flushing program – using a no-discharge method that conserves water while keeping the system clean. Instead of traditional hydrant flushing that dumps water onto the ground, this updated approach saved over 8 million gallons – enough to supply about 100 homes for an entire year.

Town officials say natural sediment can build up in water mains over time, affecting color, taste, and odor. Routine flushing helps clear that out, and the no-dis method allows the water to be filtered and reused, rather than wasted.
