Town of Prescott Valley officials are reporting the deaths of numerous fish last weekend in East Lake at Urban Forest Park.
Town staff recently installed a new aeration system designed to reduce algae blooms and improve water quality. However, the combination of high temperatures and increased oxygen levels appears to have stressed the fish, resulting in numerous deaths.
Crews are currently working to remove the dead fish, and town officials are coordinating with Arizona Game and Fish to restock East Lake this month.
Town officials add that despite the incident, water conditions remain safe for recreational fishing and other uses at the park.
