Quite a few Tri-City area residents will spend the 4th of July weekend riding around deserts and forests on off-highway vehicles. But the Arizona Game and Fish Department notes many fatal accidents involving OHVs occur over the Independence Day holiday. They want people to take precautions when using an OHV. This includes wearing a helmet and goggles, not speeding, never riding alone, and not riding with more than the recommended number of people for the vehicle.
It’s also a good idea to bring a map, a first aid kit, and plenty of water and snacks, and be sure to tell someone where you are going.
Game and Fish reports from 2013 to 2021 show that 69 people were killed nationwide in OHV accidents during the 4th of July holiday.
