The number of fatal traffic accidents in Arizona decreased for the second year in a row. That’s according to the 2024 Crash Facts Report released by ADOT.
Last year saw 1,228 people throughout the state lose their lives in motor vehicle crashes, compared to 1,307 in 2023. That’s a 6.12 percent decrease. The number of traffic accidents also dropped from 122,247 in 2023 to 121,107 in 2024, a decrease of 1.74 percent.
Yavapai County, however, is bucking the overall trend in the state when it comes to fatal crashes. Last year, 63 people were killed in traffic accidents in the county, compared to 48 in 2023. The number of people injured actually dropped a bit, from 1,735 in 2023 to 1,716 in 2024. The number of traffic accidents that occurred in Yavapai County also saw a slight decrease — 3,836 in 2024 compared to 3,883 in 2023.
