Thinning operations will resume in one part of the Prescott National Forest. Contractors have resumed operations in the area of Lynx Lake. The work covers the final 105 acres of the 860-acre project area.
No area or road closures are expected, but officials urge the public to stay clear of operating equipment. They warn that approaching these machines is dangerous, as operators may not be able to see you.
Mechanical thinning—a process that reduces excess vegetation—has proven to be an effective land management tool. This project aims to improve the health and resiliency of fire-adapted ecosystems, restore watersheds, rangelands, and wildlife habitats, and reduce hazardous fuels that threaten communities in the wildland-urban interface.
