Both firefighters and civilians had a hand in stopping a wildfire Saturday. According to Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority officials, the blaze broke out in the area of Saddleview and Prescott Ridge near Prescott Valley and consumed ten acres of grass. Nearby residents sprang into action with water trucks, tractors, shovels, and fire extinguishers to slow the fire’s progress until CAFMA units arrived on the scene.
A perimeter was set up around the fire, which was quickly brought under control. No structures were damaged or destroyed. CAFMA officials say the fire started due to someone welding along a fence.
