Forest Thinning Project Begins Next Week in the Bradshaw Ranger District

Contractors will begin a mechanical thinning operation next week south of Prescott in the Bradshaw Ranger District. The School House Project covers nearly 1,000 acres between Highway 89 and Senator Highway near Goldwater Lake.

Several trails in the area — including Camp 26, Twist and Shout, and Hidden Valley — may be impacted. Portions of the White Spar Campground will also be temporarily unavailable.

There are no planned area or road closures, but the public is urged to avoid active work zones. Heavy equipment will be in use, and approaching it is extremely dangerous.

This project aims to reduce hazardous fuels while improving forest health and protecting homes in the wildland-urban interface from wildfires.
