Prescott Police Give Reminders on School Bus Safety

With the first day of school in the Tri-City area Thursday, the Prescott Police Department has this reminder for motorists for when they encounter school buses. Arizona law states when a bus has flashing red lights and an extended stop arm, you must stop. For buses stopped on two-lane or multi-lane roads, all traffic in both directions must stop. On divided highways with a barrier or unpaved median, only the traffic behind the bus must stop.

Also, remember to slow down in school zones, watch for children near crosswalks, and stay off your phone as distracted driving puts lives at risk.
