That ham salad you have in your kitchen could make you sick. Yavapai County Community Health Services reports a public health alert has been issued for ham salad products potentially contaminated with listeria.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service is warning consumers not to eat certain products from Reser’s Fine Foods and Molly’s Kitchen. The alert involves 12-ounce tubs of Reser’s ham salad with a sell-by date of September 1st, and five-pound tubs of Molly’s Kitchen ham salad dated August 31st.
The contamination risk stems from breadcrumb ingredients recalled by Newly Weds Foods. No illnesses have been reported, but listeria can cause serious infections, especially in vulnerable groups like pregnant women and older adults.
Consumers are urged to throw these ham salad products away or return them to the store where you purchased them.
