Some former Yavapai College athletes are preparing to compete for their new schools. Gio Orozco will suit up for the Newman University men’s soccer team. It’s an NCAA Division II school in Wichita, Kansas that went 8-10-1 last season. His former teammate, Gael Castro, joined the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. The Jimmies went 3-9-3 last year. Carlos Rodriguez, who also played for Chino Valley, will stay in Arizona and play for the Ottawa University men’s soccer team.
From the volleyball team, Marija Raonic joined Lindsey Wilson University. The Serbia native had 20 kills and 13 digs last season. Michaelina Oles will play for Stephens College. The native of Poland posted 28 kills, 13 digs, and ten blocks in 2024.
For women’s soccer, Chloe Brand joined the University of Mary. The defender started ten games for YC last year. Rylee Kunker is playing for Justice University in Arizona. As a defender, she appeared in six games in 2024.
