Fire crews are starting to get a handle on the Kirkland Fire. The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management reports the blaze is 60-percent contained. They have also downgraded the size of the fire a bit from 935 acres to 913 acres.
There are 100 personnel battling the fire, which began last Friday when a motorist driving on a blown-out tire created sparks from the metal rim, igniting several roadside fires. That driver was arrested.
