The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service have safely recovered an 11-year-old girl in Camp Verde. YCSO officials say the child had been missing for several months after being unlawfully taken from the Phoenix area by her non-custodial mother and grandmother.
Last week, investigators received information the suspects and child were staying at a short-term rental. Sheriff’s deputies and deputy U.S. marshals moved in and found the girl unharmed. The mother and grandmother were arrested without incident.
The Arizona Department of Child Safety has placed the girl in protective care under an emergency order.
