YC Names New Head Coach for Women’s Basketball

Yavapai College has a new coach for its women’s basketball team. Zach Lemay has been hired for the job. He takes over a Lady Rider team that went 5-20 last season.

Lemay comes to Yavapai from Reno, Nevada, where for the past four years he led the North Valleys High School girls basketball team. Under his guidance, the squad won 20 or more games for three consecutive seasons, and also won three league titles. Lemay also has experience in the AAU ranks.

He played high school ball for both Reno and McQueens high schools before going on to play for Olympic College and Edmonds College.

Lemay also has a connection to Yavapai College as his sister Lorie played there from 2001 to 2003.

Lemay becomes the third head coach the Y-C women’s basketball has had in the past four seasons.
