Human Remains Found in Cleator

A tractor operator made an unexpected discovery while grading land near Cleator. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office reports the tractor unearthed human remains last Monday. Along with the bones, fragments of a wooden box – possibly an old coffin – were also found.

Sheriff’s Office investigators were called to the scene and determined the remains could be between 55 and 85 years old. Experts from Prescott’s Sharlot Hall Museum are assisting in the investigation, as local historians believe the find may connect with long-standing stories from the area’s past.

The Sheriff’s Office hopes forensic and historical research will one day identify the remains.
