A Prescott man guilty of kidnapping and sexual assault will spend several years behind bars. Last Friday, Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Krista Carman sentenced 35-year-old Brett David Ellis to 16 years in prison. The sentencing follows a jury verdict on July 25th.
During the trial, evidence showed Ellis bound and assaulted a woman at his Prescott home. The victim escaped and immediately reported the crime to Prescott Police. In addition to prison, Ellis must register as a sex offender and will serve seven years of probation after release.
County Attorney Dennis McGrane said the sentence should send a strong message that sexual assault will not be tolerated in Yavapai County.
