New Rules for Dove-Hunting Season

Many Tri-City area hunters are looking forward to the start of dove season, and the Arizona Game and Fish Department wants to remind everyone about some new guidelines. Starting next Monday, the daily bag limit will remain at fifteen birds—but for the first time hunters, there’s no cap on white-winged doves within that total.

Hunters can now harvest any mix of mourning and white-winged doves, up to fifteen a day and forty-five in possession. The change also applies to the late season, running from November 21st through January 4th. There’s still no limit on invasive Eurasian collared-doves.

Hunters must keep a fully feathered wing attached to each dove until they reach home or their final destination. If you find a metal leg band, report it at reportband.gov. Any transmitters should be returned to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.
