Even with all the rain this week, Yavapai County’s drought conditions have not changed. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, just like the previous few weeks, three-quarters of the county is in severe drought. Much of northern Yavapai is in moderate drought. A portion of southern Yavapai County around Yarnell and Congress is in extreme drought.
As for the rest of the state, nearly three-quarters of Arizona is in either severe drought or extreme drought. A large portion of northern Arizona is moderate drought. A sliver of southeastern Arizona is in exceptional drought.
Because of the current drought conditions, the fire danger in the Prescott National Forest is high. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark in order to prevent a wildfire from breaking out.
