Just hours after they made history with their first appearance on the NJCAA national poll, the Yavapai College women’s soccer team was in Tucson to face the always tough Pima Aztecs. As expected, it was quite the battle, and it ended with . . . no winner. Number 16 ranked YC and Pima played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday.
Freshman Dottie Bethers notched the Lady Riders’ lone goal, assisted by Flagstaff native Nataly Arangure. Poppy Anderson was in goal for the first half for Yavapai and made two saves. Talon Bennett took over in net in the second half and notched seven saves.
YC is now 3-0-1 on the season. The Lady Riders have the rest of the week off. They’re on the road again next week when they head to Yuma to face number two ranked Arizona Western.
Yavapai is back home September 13th versus the College of Southern Nevada.
