Be Mindful of the Wind

While fire restrictions have been lifted in Yavapai County, the high winds forecast for Wednesday and Thursday will mean an increased risk for wildfires. Everyone is urged to be careful with anything that can produce a flame or a spark.

You should never leave campfires or cooking fires unattended and always make sure they are completely extinguished before leaving. Check with your local fire department to see if any type of burning is permitted. When driving, make sure no chains are dragging from your vehicle as they can produce sparks, and never throw cigarette butts out car windows.

The National Weather Service reports wind gusts could reach between 30 to 40 miles per hour Wednesday and Thursday.
