YC Soccer Teams Blanked by AZ Western

In their previous two games, the Yavapai College women’s soccer team beat one top 20 team and tied another. Tuesday, the Lady Riders faced another top 20 squad, Arizona Western, who’s ranked number two in the latest NJCAA poll. The Lady Riders were stymied all night long by the Lady Matadors’ defense, unable to get a single shot on goal. Western, meanwhile, peppered the goal and beat YC 6-nil. Talon Bennett made 15 saves for Yavapai.

The men’s game was a much closer contest, but Yavapai also failed to score on Arizona Western, who came away with a 2-0 triumph. The Roughriders managed just three shots on goal. Daniel Alexis Medina Gonzalez came up with three saves.

Next up for Yavapai soccer, they are home this Saturday versus the College of Southern Nevada. The women play at 4:30 p.m. at Prescott’s Ken Lindley Field, followed by the men at 7 p.m.
