“A hard fought game.” That’s how Bradshaw Mountain football coach Bob Young described Friday’s tussle with Mohave. Neither team scored in the first quarter. Early in the second stanza, Michael Sanford got the Bears on the board with a touchdown pass to Caden Dabney. By the third quarter, Bradshaw led 24-7. That’s when the Thunderbirds started their comeback. But the Bears managed to keep them at arm’s length and got the win, final score 31-21. Kylin Jackson had three rushing touchdowns for Bradshaw. Casey Bauman had an interception.
Chino Valley had a tough night on the gridiron, losing to Scottsdale Christian 61-6. Matt Sibole connected with Isaiah Anderson for a 60-yard touchdown strike.
Mayer and Joseph City had quite the battle, but the Wildcats – the ones from Mayer, as that’s the mascot for both schools – came up short 40-34. Jonny Bryce and Kyle Dorman had two touchdowns, and Uriah Romero had a pick six.
