The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has been recognized by Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes for its efforts to combat crypto scams. The Sheriff’s Office this year launched a first-of-its-kind program to post warning signs on Bitcoin and Coinstar ATMs, alerting users to potential fraud.
The initiative coincides with a new state law designed to better protect Arizonans from cryptocurrency-related scams.
Mayes praised the effort, calling it a proactive step in safeguarding the public.
To further educate residents, YCSO is hosting free scam and fraud protection presentations throughout October. The goal is to help citizens recognize and avoid financial fraud.
One such presentation is scheduled for Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Paulden Public Library.
