Moisture from Hurricane Priscilla will move into Arizona Thursday. That means a high chance for showers and thunderstorms in Yavapai County. The National Weather Service reports all that rain means an increased risk of flash flooding into the weekend.
To protect your property from flood waters, you can go to your local fire department to get free sandbags, though you will have to fill them yourself. Areas that have experienced wildfires in the past are particularly prone to flash floods.
In addition, do not drive through flooded or closed low water crossings. If your vehicle becomes stuck and police and fire personnel have to rescue you, under Arizona’s “Stupid Motorist Law” you will have to pay for the cost of your rescue.
