Pile Burning at Big Bug Mesa

Fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District of the Prescott National Forest plan to conduct a prescribed burn on Big Bug Mesa. The project focuses on burning piles created during recent forest thinning operations. Recent rainfall has created favorable conditions for the burn.

Smoke may be visible from Prescott, Prescott Valley, Chino Valley, Dewey-Humboldt, and surrounding areas. Motorists should use caution, slow down, and turn on headlights when driving through smoke.

Forest Service officials say these efforts support long-term forest health and help prevent major wildfires. Fire crews will monitor weather conditions right up to ignition to ensure safety.
