YC Men’s Basketball Splits Opening Weekend

No easy start to the season for the Yavapai College men’s basketball team. They kicked off their 2025-2026 campaign Friday at the Physicians Immediate Care Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho, with number 17 pre-season ranked College of Southern Idaho.

The Roughriders trailed by eight points at halftime, but in the second half, the Golden Eagles pulled away to get the 66-48 victory. Prescott grad Jason Parent was the only YC player in double digits with eleven points.

On Saturday, the Roughriders just stayed ahead of Colorado Northwestern in the first half before their offense took off in the second half for the 83-71 triumph. Parent amassed 28 points. Latvia’s own Rudolfs Svitins netted 20 points. Torin Bosch recorded 14 points. New Jersey native Raijon Dispensa posted six points and ten rebounds.

Yavapai College has two home games this week — Wednesday versus New Mexico Military Institute, and Friday versus South Mountain.
