YC Men’s Soccer Dropped by Mohave

Last Tuesday, they won an epic battle with Arizona Western in the region semifinals. This past Saturday, the Yavapai College men’s soccer team had a shot at winning the Region One championship. They were in Bullhead City to take on Mohave College.

The first 20-plus minutes had the defense take center stage, until the Bighorns finally broke through. They scored two more goals before halftime. Mohave kept scoring in the second half and handed the Roughriders a 6-0 loss, with Lazzar Ramos notching the final three goals for Mohave.

It was also a game where the refs whipped out yellow cards en masse, with four against Yavapai and two against Mohave.

In his first year as head coach, Giorgi Manzula guided YC to a 5-7-1 record. Mohave, meanwhile, will take on Salt Lake Community College this coming Saturday in the West District Championship game.
