They didn’t make it in their inaugural season. But in their second year of existence, the Bradshaw Mountain flag football team earned a spot in the 4A Conference state playoffs. On the one hand, they got to stay in Yavapai County to open the post-season Wednesday. On the other hand, the number 14 seeded Lady Bears had a big challenge as they were in Cottonwood versus number three Mingus.
Bradshaw did pull off some big defensive plays, but the Lady Marauders kept them out of the end zone and handed them a 21-0 loss. Taylor Morrison and Nyomi Astorga both had interceptions, and “MC Hammer” Melanie Carranza recorded a sack.
Bradshaw Mountain concludes the season with a 6-7 overall record. Mingus will face number six Mesquite in the Elite Eight of state Saturday. The Lady Wildcats blanked St. Mary’s – last year’s state champions – 20-0.
