Earlier this month, Alex Pierce nailed a three-pointer at the buzzer to tie the score and send the game into overtime, where the Yavapai College men’s basketball team took care of New Mexico Military Institute. This past Saturday, Pierce got to play the role of hero again for the Roughriders. YC and Mesa College stayed close for much of the game. Then as the last few seconds ticked down, Pierce launched a desperation three and connected with the basket to give Yavapai the 76-75 victory over the Thunderbirds.
Pierce finished the night with ten points. “The Detective” Torin Bosch led the Roughriders with 17 points. Prescott grad Jason Parent notched 14 points, Bradshaw Mountain product Amari Lawrence put up 13 points, and another ex-Badger, Andrew Lyon, hit two three-pointers. Yavapai College is now 4-3 on the season.
