Verde Canyon Railroad Blocked by Rockslide

Heavy rain this week caused a rockslide that stopped the Verde Canyon Railroad in its tracks — literally.

Verde Valley Fire Chief Danny Johnson says they got the call around 6 p.m. Tuesday that boulders were on the tracks, and hundreds of passengers had to be shuttled back to the depot:

It took about four hours to shuttle the passengers back to the depot. One person suffered a minor ankle injury, but everybody else was okay.
