A man wanted in connection to a sexual assault in Cordes Junction is now in custody.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says Ramses Cortes-Cordova was arrested last week while trying to cross into Arizona from Mexico.
Authorities say Cortes is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a gas station shower stall in Cordes Junction.
The incident launched an investigation that eventually led to a Border Patrol stop.
Officers identified Cortes during a routine check and immediately took him into custody.
He was later transferred to Homeland Security Investigations and is expected to face charges in Yavapai County.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released further information about the victim but says the case remains under investigation.
