Potentially Record-Setting Warmth Continues in the Valley

Potentially record-setting warmth is hanging on in the Valley.
The National Weather Service says Phoenix hit 80 degrees yesterday, breaking the previous record of 78 set back in 2010.
And it might not be done yet—the thermometer could climb above 80 again today, which would set another daily record.
Forecasters say a stubborn high pressure system parked over the state is to blame for the unusually warm December temperatures.
Typically this time of year, highs in Phoenix hover in the mid to upper 60s.
But with little cloud cover and plenty of sun, the warm spell could linger a bit longer.
Residents are being reminded to stay hydrated and mindful of the heat—even in winter.
