A Prescott student is receiving national recognition for his achievements in the Air Force ROTC.
Alec Bessonny, a senior at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, has been named the Air Force ROTC All-American Student of the Year.
The prestigious honor goes to just three ROTC seniors each year — one from each military branch.
Bessonny was selected from a competitive field of 15 finalists, which started with more than 260 nominations from over 200 colleges nationwide.
As part of the award, he attended the Military Bowl in Annapolis on Saturday, where he was recognized during halftime on ESPN.
The Air Force says the award celebrates excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service.
For Bessonny, it’s a national honor that puts both his school — and his hometown — in the spotlight.
