Chino Valley P&Z Continues Airfield Issue to Future Meeting

Lots of Chino Valley residents made their voices heard during Tuesday’s Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. Their concerns were on a proposed rezone of 390 acres of land near Perkinsville Road that would include a private airfield to be used by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Town staff told the Planning and Zoning Commission the training aircraft that will use the airfield are quieter than commercial jets. The FAA’s threshold for what is deemed “significant noise” does not extend beyond 2,000 feet from the end of the runway.

In the end, the Planning and Zoning Commission decided to continue the matter to its next meeting. Commission Chairman Tom Merritt said he wants to hear more about:
