Prescott Area Congressman Eli Crane Wants to Give Nick Shirley a Medal

Prescott area Congressman Eli Crane wants to honor Nick Shirley for uncovering fraud in the Minnesota child care system. Crane has introduced legislation to award the social media influencer with the Congressional Gold Medal.

In a release from his office, Crane said, “His efforts to shed light on this historic scandal have resulted in seismic shifts to our political landscape virtually overnight. Nick Shirley is a fearless citizen journalist who stood up to a corrupt system and exposed waste, fraud, and abuse being perpetrated against the American people. It is a testament to the power of the average American over the legacy media.”

Shirley’s video on the massive fraud in Minnesota’s Somali community garnered millions of views on “X” and resulted in the U.S. government halting funding of those programs. It also led to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announcing he would not run for re-election.
