That zero had been in the win column since the start of the season for the Yavapai College women’s basketball team. Last night, they went into their game with Navajo Tech with the New Year’s resolution of finally getting that “W.” After trailing the Lady Skyhawks by one point in the first quarter, the Lady Riders exploded for 21 points in the second quarter. YC kept up the offensive outburst the rest of the way and got their first win of the season, final score 79-58.
Two Bradshaw Mountain grads had a big hand in the win. Kalli Smith went “10/10 good buddy” with ten points and ten rebounds. Giselle Serrano tallied nine points. Kayla Bailey posted 12 points. Alexys DeCremer garnered eleven points. Grecia Leon put up ten points, and Esther McCabe chipped in eight points.
Yavapai College and Navajo Tech have another go-around in Prescott today.
