Three matches with three tough opponents in one day. That’s what Friday was like for the number eight ranked Embry-Riddle wrestling team as they were in Cedar Falls, Iowa, for the NWCA National Duals.
The day began with a match against number eleven ranked Doane University. Wins at 197 pounds and heavyweight by the Eagles’ Trenton Bloomquist and Kenny Copley gave them the 21–20 triumph over the Tigers.
Right after that, Riddle faced the NAIA’s most dominant team, Grand View University, who have won 13 national titles in the last 14 years. The Vikings got the win in that one, 40–3, with Copley getting the Eagles’ only win.
The final match of the day was against number ten ranked Providence. Both teams put up a good battle, with the Argos getting the deke, 24–16.
Embry-Riddle is back in action January 24th at Southern Oregon.
