Being next door to Las Vegas Wednesday night, the Yavapai College basketball teams hoped Lady Luck would pay them a visit as they faced the College of Southern Nevada in Henderson. Unfortunately, the Coyotes got off to a hot start in the men’s game and put the Roughriders in a huge hole. YC fought back in the second half but lost 80-64.
Tim Zoonekynd collected 14 points. Alex Pierce and Prescott grad Jason Parent both tallied eleven points, with Parent also grabbing eleven rebounds. Bradshaw Mountain product Amari Lawrence posted eight points.
In the women’s game, Yavapai was right there with Southern Nevada the whole way but came up short 69-66. Bradshaw Mountain alum Giselle Serrano netted 16 points. Kayla Bailey recorded 12 points. Annika Hester notched ten points.
The Yavapai men are now 9-8 on the season, and the women are 2-15.
